What are Speed Bumps?

Speed bumps are 12 foot wide by 3 inch high asphalt undulations which are usually placed across roadways between intersections.  They are requested by residents as a means to slow down traffic in residential neighborhoods.

How do I Request Speed Bumps on my Street?

A Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP)  petition must be submitted to the Department of Transportation, signed by at least ten (10) households residing on each subject street.  The Traffic Engineering Section evaluates and ranks the street with other petitioner to be placed on the NTMP list submitted to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for funding twice per year for single streets and once per year for neighborhood wide petitions.  For my information on the NTMP program visit www.sacdot.com/ntmp .
