Development Services

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) is responsible for numerous planning and development services. Some of these responsibilities include reviewing traffic studies in environmental documents, providing plan check reviews for private land development, review and approval of driveways and approval of control access gate plans for subdivisions and apartment complexes.

Driveways

SACDOT is responsible for approving plans for driveways at new commercial developments as well as proposed driveway "curb cuts" for existing commercial properties.

Electronically Controlled Security Gates

SACDOT's Transportation Planning Section reviews plans for electronically controlled security gates at new condominium developments, neighborhood subdivisions and apartment complexes. Proposals for retrofitted gates at existing housing developments are also reviewed by the Section.

Improvement Plan Review

SACDOT provides plan checking services for private land development. In addition, the Transportation Planning section reviews preliminary development plans, tentative parcel maps and tentative subdivision maps for technical coordination related to major streets and area-wide circulation.
