The Department of Transportation, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), prepares plans and contracts for the installation of access facilities within the public right-of-way.


Access ramp on cement island.

Two types of ramps:

  • Island Cuts (straight through a middle island)
  • Sidewalk Ramp (on a corner)
Audible pedestrian device.

Additional access:

  • Tactile Guide Strips (for those using sight canes)
  • Audible Pedestrian Signals (volumized alerts to sound when it is okay to cross)
