Traffic Signal Project
Elder Creek Road @ South Watt Avenue

Project Description

This project has installed signals at the intersection of Elder Creek Road and South Watt Avenue and they will provide a number of roadway system benefits:  

  • Improved roadway safety.
  • Increased accessibility for persons with disabilities.
  • Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Americans with Disability Act compliance.

This project included:

  • Traffic signal installation at the Elder Creek Road and South Watt Avenue intersection.
  • Widening for left-turn lanes at each intersection leg.
  • Medians adjacent to the left-turn lanes.
  • Drainage improvements.
  • Pedestrian crosswalks (with audible signal heads).
  • ADA ramps for persons with disabilities.
  • Placement of slurry seal and striping.

Project Timeline

Preliminary Study, 2003 to 2005
Environmental Study, 2004 to 2006
Design, 2004 to 2006
Right of Way Acquisition, 2005 to 2006
Construction was completed in November 2006.

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $1.5 million, and will be provided by Developer Fees (Roadway District 4 funds) and Measure A sales tax funds.
