Intelligent Transportation System Project
Arden Way (Watt to Del Paso)

Sacramento County and the City of Sacramento are collaborating on a project to install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program elements along Arden Way between Watt Avenue and Del Paso Boulevard. This project will improve traffic management and mobility along Arden Way and provide a link between City and County transportation information systems. Transportation system benefits will include:

• Improved roadway safety.
• Improved traffic management.
• Faster emergency vehicle response time.

Planned ITS improvements include:

• Real time surveillance cameras to monitor traffic conditions at intersections.
• Fiber-optic cables to receive information from cameras.
• A signal priority system at 18 intersections for fire engines and Regional Transit buses.

Funding

Estimated project costs are $2.4 million and will be provided by Measure A Sales Tax funds (25%), TEA – 21 funds (50%) and the City of Sacramento (25%).
