Madison Avenue - Hazel to Greenback

Project Description

This Madison Avenue (Hazel to Greenback) improvement project will provide a number of roadway system benefits including:

  • Improved roadway safety.
  • Increased traffic capacity to ease congestion and delays.
  • Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Meet Americans with Disability Act requirements.
  • Beautification of the project area.

Planned roadway improvements include:

  • Widening Madison Avenue from 4 to 6 lanes between Hazel Avenue and Greenback Lane in the Orangevale/Fair Oaks area.
  • Construction of a 12-foot wide, raised landscaped median along Madison Avenue.
  • Modifying existing traffic signals.
  • Roadway improvements for ADA compliance, transit users and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

Preliminary Engineering, 2008 to 2009
Environmental Review, 2008 to 2010
Design, 2008 to 2010
Right-of-Way Acquisition, 2008 to 2011
Construction, 2010 to 2012

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $16 million and will be provided by Measure A sales tax funds (36%), Developer Fees (32%) and other fees (32%).
