North Watt Avenue Enhancements (Phase 2) - Poplar Boulevard to Freedom Park Drive

Project Description

This project is part of Sacramento County and Sacramento Housing Redevelopment Authority (SHRA) master plan efforts to enhance the Watt Avenue corridor between Antelope Road and the Capital City Freeway. Phase 2 project work includes:

  • Landscaping in center medians from Poplar Boulevard to A Street.
  • 6-foot wide separated sidewalks with 5-foot wide landscaping on the west side of Watt Avenue from Poplar Boulevard to A Street.
  • ADA upgrades and traffic signal modifications at the intersections of Airbase/Watt, Palm/Watt, Poplar/Watt and A Street/Watt.
  • Roadway slurry sealing.
  • Watt Avenue restriping to provide bike lanes form Poplar Boulevard to Palm Avenue.

Preliminary Study, 2003 to 2004
Design, 2003 to 2005
Environmental Study, 2003 to 2004
Right-Of-Way Acquisition, 2005
Construction, 2005 to 2007

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $5.3 million and will be provided by the Measure A Sales Tax Funds (21%) and SHRA Funds (79%).
