Florin Elementary School - Safe Routes to School Project

The Florin Elementary Safe Routes to School project was part of a county-wide program to increase safety by closing gaps between existing sidewalks.

Project improvements included:

• Installation of new sidewalks on Kara Drive (Florin to Judette) and Diana Way (Vivian to Judette).
• Installation of new crossings and improvements to existing crosswalks on Diana Way @ Addie Avenue, Diana Way @ Vivian Court, Kara Drive @ Bruns Way, and Kara Drive @ Vivian Court.
• Installation of shoulder striping on Kara Drive from Vivian Court to Judette Avenue.
• Installation of additional bike parking at Florin Elementary School.
• Upgraded/relocated drainage inlets and repaired curb and gutter.
• Installation of new sidewalk ramps for ADA access and mobility.

Funding

The final construction cost is $542,000 of which $286,000 was funded from the State's Safe Routes to School Program. The total project cost is approximately $1.04 million.
