Sunset Ave/Main Ave Bikeway Project

Project Description

As part of the implementation efforts for the Sacramento County Bikeway Master Plan, SACDOT has completed this bikeway project on Sunset Avenue and Main Avenue from Hazel Avenue to Dredger Way in the Orangevale area. This project included the following improvements:

• Construction of on-street bicycle lanes including signing, striping, and markings.
• Pedestrian walkways
• 5-foot wide shoulder area
• Ditch Relocation
• Street overlay or slurry seal coating

Project Timeline

Preliminary Study, 2003 to 2005
Design, 2004 to 2006
Environmental Review, 2004 to 2006
Construction was completed in October 2006.

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $1 million and will be provided by the Tobacco Fund.
