NEWS RELEASE July 14, 2009 For Immediate Release Contact: Johanna Castelo (916-874-6796) Communications & Media Officer Temporary Closure Twin Cities Road Bridge Over Snodgrass Slough Friday, July 17th at 5 AM Until Saturday, July 25th at 7 PM When: Starting Friday, July 17, 2009 at 5 AM, there will be a temporary full closure of the Twin Cities Bridge over Snodgrass Slough to all traffic including vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and all river traffic. The bridge is scheduled to be re-opened on Saturday, July 25th at 7 PM. Where: Twin Cities Road Bridge over Snodgrass Slough, which is west of I-5 and east of HW 160 and River Road. Detour Routes: Hood Franklin Road, River Road and West Walnut Grove Road, in conjunction with I-5 and HW 160, will be utilized as detour routes. Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the bridge closure. Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the bridge closure area should anticipate longer travel times due to detour routes. Bridge Repairs: The Twin Cities Bridge deck surface over Snodgrass Slough needs to be repaired as part of on-going bridge maintenance activities. Caltrans has assigned a load rating of 10 tons for vehicles crossing this bridge until the bridge is fully repaired. Once maintenance work is completed, the bridge will be re-evaluated by Caltrans to revise the existing load rating.
